3G Apple iPhone Inventory Disappears from Marketplace

Nearly every state is out of iPhones according to Mac News Network with the exception of MyNewIphoneWorld.com’s home state, New York, California and New Hampshire. Even the stores that do have the new 3G iPhone have only a few models remaining.

With availability plummeting, what does this mean about the iPhone?

  • It is wildly successful in spite of the messy launch where many users could not get their new iPhone to work or couldn’t get the new iPhone 2.0 firmware to update - which included use of the iPhone Apps store.
  • Apple has drastically miscalculated when trying to anticipate necessary inventories to meet demand for its 3G product.
  • This is possibly a publicity stunt aimed at increasing awareness of and demand for the new 3G iPhone and its improved speed.
  • AT&T may have only been able to handle a certain number of new, 3G users on its network and Apple stocked accordingly. After a few months of testing, expect a flood of new iPhones to hit the shelves once AT&T works the bugs out of its network.
